Opening Day ceremony with civic leaders making an entrance after a ribbon cutting.

Greetings M'Lord or M'Lady,

The Cain's Crossing Renaissance Faire Committee is so very pleased to invite you to learn more about the Cain's Crossing Renaissance Faire to be held on Mother's Day weekend, May 8th and 9th of 2010.

Cain's Crossing Renaissance Faire is a fundraising event to sponsor educational activities in Placer and Nevada Counties. We aim to create a family-oriented community event which helps families experience the historical time period of the Renaissance.

Our Renaissance Faire began as a small school event on the E. V. Cain Middle School baseball field. It was so successful and well-received that we converted it into a weekend community event so the public could enjoy.

This event doesn't happen overnight. It takes nearly a year of planning from an all-volunteer assemblage of experienced Renaissance Faire individuals and educators. Furthermore, to provide the atmosphere of a Renaissance shire, materials and props for the event are created and donations are received from individuals, merchants, and businesses in Auburn and surrounding areas.

The Faire transforms the Auburn Regional Park into a Renaissance shire in late 1500's by creating the atmosphere of a marketplace with vendors of food, drink, and wares. There are also staging areas where entertainers and historical re-enactors perform for the "Queen" and the public. The costumes are lavish, since each re-enactor and each vendor in all the booths are dressed in period costumes.

We are honored with having a group of volunteers who assist in everything from selling tickets to constructing and creating the shire. Our biggest challenge each year is in raising enough money to cover expenses and supplies to create this 16th Century shire.

This event is already receiving great support from the Auburn Recreation District and the community as a whole.  This event promises to become a favorite Auburn tradition for years to come.

We hope you will join us in presenting a piece of the enigmatic time period known as the Renaissance. Please leave your contact information ASAP if you wish to receive more information on becoming a proud sponsor for Cain's Crossing or would like to volunteer your time with us.

Grammercy,
