Cain's Crossing Renaissance
Faire is a non-profit corporation that raises funds for the Auburn Education
Foundation. Our purpose is to create an educational event for 7th graders
in Placer and Nevada Counties who are studying the Renaissance period. In
addition, we also aim to create a family-oriented community event which helps
parents experience what their children are learning in school. The event
supports the E.V. Cain Middle School 7th grade social studies department. . Our Renaissance Faire began as a small school event on the E. V. Cain Middle School baseball field. It was so successful and well-received that we extended it into a weekend community event so parents, families, and more students outside our area could participate. Cain's Crossing Renaissance Faire encompasses one school day on Friday, with hands-on learning-booths in which students can make items (such as wreaths and candles) which were used in the Renaissance era. All the activities are based on the 7th grade social studies curriculum and most of the events extend into the weekend so the entire community can experience them. This expansion didn't happen overnight. It took nearly a year of planning from an all-volunteer assemblage of experienced Renaissance Faire individuals and educators from E.V. Cain Middle School. Furthermore, to provide the atmosphere of a Renaissance shire, materials and props for the event were created and donated from individuals, merchants, and businesses in Auburn and the surrounding area. Cain's Crossing is already receiving great support from the school district, parents, the Auburn Education Foundation, the Auburn Recreation District and the community as a whole. This event promises to become a favorite Auburn tradition for years to come. We hope you will join us in presenting a piece of the enigmatic time period known as the Renaissance. We invite you to contact us if you wish to receive information about joining us. info@cainscrossing.org Thank you for your interest. |
