Volunteers We are looking for enthusiastic people of all ages to help create the magic that is the Cain's Crossing Renaissance Faire! Interested in learning about a faire from the inside? We have volunteer opportunities avilable as we work on building sets and props as well as sewing the many banners and flags that will adorn the Faire site. Although most of this is done at weekend workshops, some projects can be done on an individual basis at home. Toward March and April, the pace increases as we prepare for the faire itself. Our faire production schedule runs from the Wednesday before faire to the Monday after. We need people to work on a wide variety of projects in the months leading up to faire: " carpentry (building and preparing props and decorations) " sewing (banners, decorations) " painting (backdrops, decorations, signs) Those with special skills in any of these areas will find something sophisticated enough to be challenging, but the only talent that is really necessary is a willingness to jump right in and work hard. During faire, there are many jobs to be filled: Actors and budding thespians are needed to portray the townsfolke of Cain's Crossing. Cain's Crossing needs the atmosphere of the 16th century marketplace to come alive through the daily activities of it's townsfolke. People of various trades and sellers of everyday goods are needed to fill booths along the marketplace. " bakers, tailors, cobblers, tinkers " town crier, wandering sellers, apothecary Set-up/ Breakdown Stage Construction Set-up/Breakdown stages and equipment. Active job requiring lifting and carrying. Construction knowledge and tools helpful. Experience with sound equipment also needed. Positions start Wednesday before the faire and include post-faire time, leaving volunteers to enjoy the whole event. Grounds Set-up/Breakdown fences, signs and other things needed for the faire grounds. Positions start Wednesday before the faire and include post-faire time on Sunday and Monday. Poster Hanging Assist hanging event posters in various regional areas in the weeks prior to the Faire. Volunteers from Sacramento, Rocklin, Loomis, Roseville, Colfax, Foresthill, Truckee and Tahoe especially needed. Runners During the faire runners are needed to do the on call errands. Specialty areas If you have a specialty in areas such as electrical or be you a handyman, we need on call volunteers in this area. Parking Direct cars to the parking areas, lots of standing outside the faire, but it is an important job. Volunteer Registration Sign-in volunteers and guide them where to go. Security Patrol grounds and help keep a watchful eye. Kids Area Assist in entertaining the kids. Activities include games, arts, songs, etc. This is not childcare, parents must be present.
