Good Gentles,
Cain's Crossing is actively seeking donors and sponsors for the
2010 Benefit Renaissance Faire to be held on Mother's Day weekend, May 8th and
9th. The Faire transforms the Auburn Regional Park into a Renaissance shire
in the late 1500's by creating the atmosphere of a township full of entertainers,
royalty and a marketplace with vendors of food, drink, and wares. There are staging areas where entertainers and historical re-enactors can perform for the
"Queen" and the public. The costumes are lavish since each re-enactor and each
vendor in all the booths are dressed in period costumes.
Cain's
Crossing Renaissance Faire is an all-volunteer, non-profit corporation that
raises funds for students in Placer and Nevada Counties. Our purpose is to create an
educational event for students who are
studying the Renaissance period within the social studies curriculum. In addition, we also aim to create a family-oriented
community event which helps parents experience what their children are
learning in school.
.
Our Renaissance Faire began as a small school
event on the E. V. Cain Middle School baseball field. It was so successful
and well-received that we extended it into a weekend community event so
parents, families, and students could participate.
This expansion
doesn't happen overnight. It takes nearly a year of planning from an all-volunteer
assemblage of experienced Renaissance Faire individuals and volunteers. Furthermore, to provide the atmosphere of a
Renaissance shire, materials and props for the event were created and donated
from individuals, merchants, and businesses in Auburn and the surrounding area.
We have
a large group of volunteers who assist in everything from selling tickets to constructing
and creating the shire.
Cain's Crossing gains support from sponsors such as the
Auburn Recreation District, the Auburn Journal, Auburn Education Foundation, and service organizations and businesses
who give generously so that this experience could be offered throughout Placer County and
Nevada County. The hardship of re-creating it each year is raising enough money
for costs and supplies to make this an annual event.
In return for being a sponsor of Cain's Crossing Renaissance Faire, we
will be happy to list you and your business as a proud sponsor of our event to
be held in May of 2010. We publicize our sponsors in many local newspapers, on the internet
(www.cainscrossing.org)
and community bulletins. Window posters listing our sponsors are distributed for display at local businesses. Our event is advertised nationally in Renaissance publications, and in Via magazine.
Please consider sponsoring the 2010
Cain's Crossing Renaissance Faire. You will be helping to support an event
for the youth of our community in which many children will be touched by becoming
a part of this "hands-on" historical event. Students, their families and our community will all benefit from your generous
support.
