Good Gentles,

You are most heartily invited to purvey your vittles at the 2008 Cain's Crossing Renaissance Faire, to be held at the Regional Park in Auburn, CA on Saturday, May 10th and Sunday, May 11th, 2008. All food applicants are also graciously invited to participate on Friday, May 9th, the school children day.

It being the year 1592 in the township of Cain's Crossing, the townsfolke are jubilant upon the arrival of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Beautiful Cain's Crossing is situated along an oak studded meadow of the Auburn Regional Park. Cain's Crossing has much to offer the community in sharing the food, drink and wares of the Renaissance era, and also having re-enactors to bring the hands-on experience of learning about the Renaissance to them. The costumes are lavish, since each re-enactor and each vendor in all the booths are dressed in period costumes. You are being invited to participate in this special event and to bring your unique foods and beverages to enhance the festivities and ambiance of the township. Help us to round out our experience by giving our patrons a "taste" of history.

Our Renaissance Faire began as a small school event on the E. V. Cain Middle School baseball field.  It was so successful and well-received that we extended it into a weekend community event so parents, families, and more students outside our area could participate.  It took nearly a year of planning, and to provide the atmosphere of a Renaissance shire, materials and props for the event were created and donated from individuals, merchants, and businesses in Auburn and the surrounding area.  We are fortunate to have our hard working volunteers from E.V. Cain, St. Ambrose and Diamond Rose Academie D' Armes. You are invited to join us in this grand adventure.

Cain's Crossing gained the most support from sponsors such as the Auburn Recreation District, the Auburn Education Foundation, the Auburn Journal, the Diamond Rose Academie D'Armes, St. Ambrose Guild, E.V. Caine School and service organizations and businesses who gave generously so that this experience could be offered to all the 7th grade students from schools throughout our county and Nevada County. We are supported by the gifts and talents of volunteers in this community, their support and money are what will make this an on-going event. This event promises to continue to grow and become a favorite Auburn tradition in the years to come. Any assistance that you can lend is much appreciated.
